The unit of Mathrusangham in our parish was formed on the 26th of November 1995 within the framework of the Kalyan Diocese.
It was a programme to unite the mothers to enable them in giving productive output for a positive living environment around them.
Mathrusangham started at Chavara Church with a few mothers and has grown to become a full-fledged unit with over 80 members. Since the beginning, Matrusangham has been conducting meetings on every fourth Sunday of the month. These meetings are presided over by the Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Siju Thomas and Animator Rev. Sr. Juby CSC.
The meetings evaluate the activities of the preceding month and plan for the forthcoming period. The members actively participate in the programs conducted by the parish, zone and the diocese. An executive committee is elected to co-ordinate the activities of the Mathrusangham.
Mathrusangam is into various charitable activities in the vicinity of the church and around Mumbai city. Standing for Love and Life, they extend their hands to help the poor, the sick and the needy.
The team not only arranges visits to the poor homes and supply food, clothes etc. to them but also helps orphans find shelter, contributes to the marriage of poor girls, and annually supports in the education of poor kids. The funds required for these charitable activities are raised through various collective efforts and programs. The nuns, who are the animators of the association, guide its activities along with the Vicar.
